Jump Val Halen

When I think of a classic 80's song, Jump immediately comes to mind. The classic synthesizer and the guitar solo so unique to this era makes the listener think of crazy permed long hair, fish net clothing and bright pants. This song was Val Halens first #1 hit. I spent some time researching the meaning behind this  song but all I found was that they came up with the lyrics after watching a news update of a man attempting suicide by jumping off a building. But it is also vaguely said to be about a woman. Other than that, there isn't much context for the song. In the music video, Halens jumps high in the air (I mean the song is literally called Jump) and then keeps singing- as is true to most 80's music videos. I love the way the keyboard, synthesizer and guitar work together in this song and I love the choice of using the synthesizer as the main instrument although not everyone in the band wanted that.

  1. I love this song so much. It's defiantly a classic 80's song. When I was little I did dance and I have a specific memory doing bows to this song at the end of a dance concert when I was like 5 years old. I love all of the different sound elements. Also good choice on the picture.
